6 More Reasons to stop using a Smartphone case immediately

We all are very cautious about the things that we purchase. When it comes to the smartphone, we even spend days and weeks (even months sometimes) picking the right one in our budget while considering all the aspects like colour, features, model, etc.

Our first job after purchasing the phone is to cover the phone with a case and a screen protector. We usually prefer cases to protect the device from scratches, mechanical damages, and moisture. We believe that fixing a case will ensure protection and safety. But while considering the facts, there are also some obvious and hidden drawbacks when compared to not using a case.

Here below, I am listing out 6 reasons why we shouldn’t use cases for smartphones:

  1. Phone cases are usually made up of plastic, leather, and silicon. These days silicon cases gained popularity because of their durability. But the crux here is that silicon is a non-biodegradable material as it takes between 50-500 years to decompose. Even the production of these cases contributes massively to air pollution.
  2. Heat is one of the major factors that contribute to a phone’s performance. Fixing cases to a mobile phone leads to a reduction in phone’s performance as the heat produced due to multitasking, gaming, and video rendering can’t be dissipated because of these cases. It even leads to battery drainage and reduction in battery lifetime due to increased frequency of charging the phone. Sometimes there is a chance of accidents due to battery bulging, leading to the explosion of smartphones.
  3. We spend many hours and days choosing the mobile that has a premium look. Using a case will take away that premium appearance of your smartphone. It wastes your time, money and the effort that designers kept to make a one that best fits your hand.
  4. It also affects your health as it accumulates a lot of dust and bacteria inside the case and gets discolouration due to UV rays from the sun, excess heat produced by mobile, and through our hands.
  5. Not just dust, but also when the case gets wet due to rain or splash, it retains water at the edges for longer period of time. Due to this water accumulation, the phone components might get damaged. Bad smell is an add-on to this, especially for leather cases.
  6. Using a case makes your smartphone bulky, which will make it harder to fit in your pocket when you need to carry multiple things at a time like wallet, keys, etc.

Three more reasons below makes you feel like you should stop using cases and screen protectors:

  • The smartphones these days offer protection plans which include free replacement of phone if accidental damages occur, if you purchase the plan along with the smartphone
  • Almost every person who carries a smartphone has a case on it. Holding a smartphone without a case makes you stand out of the crowd in any place and gives an impression of bold character to your personality. This is totally worth if you have spent a fortune on your phone
  • The screen and the body of the smartphones got tougher over the years which makes it unnecessary to use screen protectors. The best example is iPhone 12 & iPhone 13 series which offers ceramic screen which offers 4x protection over previous models

If you still want to go for a case for phone protection, you can go for cases available in the market which are environment friendly, and there are backless cases with a rubber lining around the mobile that gives grip to hold. Some cases even offer pores that will let heat escape from the case. I suggest using these cases as these won’t affect the performance of the smartphone.
